After the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed building of Ajmer Municipal Corporation, UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra gave information about the upcoming municipal elections.

During this, after the program, Minister Kharra shared information on many topics including the corporation elections to be held in Rajasthan.

Preparations are being made for the election under One State-One Election

During the conversation, Minister Kharra said that the upcoming municipal elections in Rajasthan will be held under the One State-One Election scheme. Preparations for which have started. He further said that for this, the work of delimitation of wards is already going on, which will be completed by the end of June. After this, the work of voter list will be completed by the end of October. After that, an application will be made to the Election Department to fix the dates of elections between 15 November and 15 December.

All work will be online

Apart from this, Minister Kharra also informed that the services of all the municipal corporations and bodies of the state will now be made online. Due to this, common citizens will not have to visit the corporation offices. All applications will be settled within a week. If there is any deficiency in the documents, the officers will inform on time and if the mistake is of the officers, then that too will be rectified. In this way, the new building of the Municipal Corporation will not only be equipped with modern facilities, but will also become a medium to bring transparency and speed in administrative work.

Fire safety survey in hotels and restaurants

He shared many things about the recent fire incident in Hotel Naaz in Ajmer. He said that a special campaign will be launched to prevent such accidents from happening again. Under this, he also talked about getting the fire safety equipment checked in all hotels, restaurants and commercial establishments. He said that wherever violation of safety standards is found, action will be taken as per the rules.

On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, Autonomous Governance Minister Jhabar Singh Khara, Water Resources Minister Suresh Rawat, Ajmer South MLA Anita Bhadel, Congress councilors, many BJP officials, workers and administrative officers were present. At the end of the ceremony, UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra shared many important information while talking to the media.

After the death of gravel mafia in mutual conflict on Thursday night in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, DGP UR Sahu has taken major action. DGP has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Rural Labhuram Bishnoi and police station in-charge Suman Kumar. Along with this, orders have been given to investigate the matter. On the other hand, how the youth died has not been revealed yet. According to the information, the complicity of the policemen themselves is coming to the fore in the illegal business of gravel. The incident is being said to have happened due to money transactions. 

There was a dispute regarding money transaction

Villagers and people associated with the gravel business said that there was a tussle between the local police and the DSP regarding money transactions. During the protest on Friday, the villagers were shouting in front of the officials that Rs 1000 is given to the police for taking out one trolley. 

It also came to light that for the last several days, there was a constant tussle between the local police and the DSP over the distribution of these 1000 rupees. However, the officers and the local police are calling it wrong and false. The villagers wrote a letter to the higher officials and told that some policemen need the permission of the Superintendent of Police before going to the spot, but they did not do so. Nor did they tell about their movement. In such a situation, they should also be investigated. 

The Deputy Superintendent of Police was continuously visiting the Banas river area for the last several days. In such a situation, the question is that if he was continuously visiting the Banas river area, then why did he not take action against even a single tractor trolley.  The role of the QRT team in-charge and other policemen is also under investigation.

No arrests have been made so far

After the incident, there is complete silence in the Banas river. Even after more than 40 hours of the incident, the police have not been able to trace any gravel mafia in the case of arson. Nor has any accused been arrested.

The postmortem of Surgyan Meena, who died in the mutual conflict, was done on Friday late evening. After this, the family members cremated the youth late at night. The real cause of the youth’s death will be known only after the medical report arrives. In its report, the police has considered the primary cause of the youth’s death to be coming under an unknown vehicle. 

The Supreme Court on Friday stayed a hefty penalty of Rs 746 crore levied by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on the Rajasthan government over non-compliance with waste management regulations.

A division bench, comprising Justices Abhay S Oka and KV Vishwanathan, heard the matter.

Additional Advocate General Shiv Mangal Sharma informed that the NGT had not only directed payment of ₹113.10 crore within a month but also issued show cause notices for prosecution against the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary/Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development. He argued before the Supreme Court that the penalty was arbitrary and ignores significant compliance made by the state.

The decision, Mr Sharma argued, caused widespread concern in the state government, which was working seriously to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. He also informed the court that the state has invested Rs 4712.98 crore in liquid waste management and Rs 2872.07 crore in solid waste management since 2018.

The bench acknowledged the efforts of Rajasthan and said that such a huge financial penalty and the possibility of criminal prosecution may hamper the environmental protection efforts of the state.The fine was imposed on September 17 last year. The NGT had highlighted the state’s gross negligence in handling environmental concerns related to untreated waste, adding that it poses serious risks to public health and ecological balance. The tribunal found that the state generates approximately 6,523 tons of solid waste daily, yet only 63.19 per cent of this waste is properly processed.

During proceedings held over the violation of Municipal Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, the environmental body highlighted critical deficiencies in waste management practices across Rajasthan.

The Rajasthan government has revoked the allocation of a government bungalow to Cabinet minister Kirori Lal Meena, sources said on Monday.

Kirori Lal Meena has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the Bhajanlal Sharma-led BJP government.

According to the sources, Mr Meena himself had requested the General Administration Department (GAD) to cancel the allocation of bungalow number 3 on Hospital Road here.

He had not taken possession of the bungalow which was allocated to him in February last year.

“The bungalow allotment has been cancelled by the GAD,” a source said.

Following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where he claimed the party did not secure the results he had promised, Meena resigned from his ministerial position. However, his resignation is yet to be accepted.

Additionally, citing health reasons, he has not attended the assembly session.

Mr Meena has also accused the state government of tapping his phones, an allegation refuted by the minister of state for home Jawahar Singh Bedham in the assembly.

The ruling BJP in Rajasthan on Sunday expelled its former MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja, who was recently at the centre of temple “purification” controversy, from primary membership of the party.

The action has been taken against Mr Ahuja following a probe by BJP’s disciplinary committee, a party order said.

BJP state president Madan Rathore has given orders to terminate Mr Ahuja’s primary membership of the party for “indiscipline”, it said.

Mr Ahuja had sparked a controversy earlier this month after he sprinkled Ganga water at a Ram temple in Alwar to “purify” it following Congress leader Tikaram Jully attended a consecration ceremony there. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot had termed Mr Ahuja’s act an “insult” to a Dalit.

Earlier on Sunday, Mr Ahuja appeared before the BJP’s disciplinary committee to present his side.

Later, talking to reporters, he said, “I have not done anything anti-Dalit.” He claimed that the BJP has made a mistake by expelling him by falling prey to the propaganda of the Congress.

He accused senior Congress leaders, including its president Mallikarjun Kharge, of defamation and said that he will file a case regarding this.

After the temple “purification” act, Mr Ahuja had said that Congress leaders have “no moral authority” to attend such ceremonies as the party’s leadership had questioned the existence of Lord Ram and “boycotted” the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya last year.

He claimed that there was no “Dalit” angle to his act.

The consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in a residential society of Alwar was held about 20 days ago on the occasion of Ram Navami and Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Tikaram Jully was in attendance.

Mr Ahuja said that he took the step because of Congress leaders’ view and approach towards lord Ram and not because of Mr Jully being a Dalit.

Mr Jully had earlier said that it (Ahuja’s act) was indicative of BJP’s mentality toward dalits.
